Natural light streaming in from both ends of this room allowed the use of darker textured materials, giving this south London kitchen a bold, contemporary elegance.

A renovated basement kitchen in smoked sawn oak looking towards to Crittall patio doors

Inspired by contemporary Danish kitchen design and with an admirable ambition to recycle the granite worktops from the previous kitchen, our client came to us with a clear design brief.

In this basement renovation of a Victorian South London home, we used smoked, sawn oak veneers with a wax oil finish, giving a rich depth to the kitchen furniture. We hand selected, stitched and pressed the veneers in our workshop to create a kitchen of the highest quality.

The kitchen area is complimented by a cosy reading nook with bookshelves and a freestanding sideboard, creating different spaces for cooking, socialising, reading and relaxing.
